Event Description

Join us for a cleanup of Grant Brook as part of the annual Source to Sea Cleanup! We’re excited to restart a Lyme tradition that was led for many years by Lyme School teacher Steven Dayno. After several years without a cleanup, time and erosion have uncovered more debris, and perhaps a few interesting historical artifacts, waiting to be discovered.

We’ll start at Market Street and make our way 1.7 miles downstream through Grant Brook to River Road, collecting litter and debris while helping protect one of Lyme’s most beautiful streams before it reaches the Connecticut River.

This is an in-stream cleanup, so participants should wear clothing suitable for getting wet. Waders or firmly attached sandals are required. Please bring water, work gloves if you have them, and insect repellent. Trash bags and other cleanup supplies will be provided. Vehicles will be waiting at River Road to shuttle participants back to the Market Street starting point at the end of the cleanup.
