Hoyt’s Landing

Meeting Location

After unloading your watercraft and gear, please park in the lots furthest from the launch area to allow vehicles with trailered boats to have easy access.

There is NO toilet facility on site this year; please visit the nearby Circle K truck stop.

Event Description

This is one of two sites being targeted for a pirate-themed cleanup of the Black River, with a goal of collecting as many TIRES as possible.

The crew here is being led by a group of Hypertherm volunteers who will be meeting at the public boat launch at Hoyts Landing where the Black River meets the CT River in Springfield VT. Meeting at 8:30 am, launching after sign-in and safety briefing.

Wrap up to return tires to the boat landing around noon to load into a waiting vehicle that will convey the group’s ‘booty’ to its final destination for proper disposal.

Wear some pirate-themed gear, sing sea shanties while you work, call each other ‘scallywag’ and ‘bilge rat’ to get into the spirit of the day!

Take lots of photos if possible; rally back at the Black River Action Team’s HQ table at Riverside Middle School at the other end of town, to share tall tales of your high adventures, pick up some swag to commemorate the day, and compare your ‘haul’ with the other crew (working the river by the school).
