Deerfield, MA

River Road pull-off

Line

Site Description

An informal river access off River Road one mile north of the Rt 116 bridge over the Connecticut River between Sunderland and Deerfield. Follow the dirt road here toward the river, navigable by vehicles with some ground clearance. There is room to turn around after a bit. Watch out for overhanging tree branches. There is a walking path to the water that used to be a road; in the last few years several very large trees have fallen across this path. This site has been a perennial party and illegal dump site, often cleaned up in the past. It is less of a problem than it was, but clearly somebody is using it as a dump. Time for a hidden camera?
