Portland Future River Access Park

Site Description

Behind Tilcon Property on Airline Ave. 1500 ft river frontage between Meriden Boat Club and Birdon Marina.

Sandy shoreline and flood plain forest. The area is relatively flat with several fallen trees and natural debris from repeated flooding. Accessible by water. The closest public launch site is at Harbor Park in Middletown which is directly across the river. We are arranging foot access through the Meriden Boat Club. There also is access via a foot path behind the Tilcon Plant on Airline Ave., where the Town has an easement to access this property. However this path goes down a steep bank and is a rather long walk to the shoreline.

Trash Description

Plastic bottles, food containers, metal cans and containers, glass, old canoe, wood. There are a lot of personal living items left behind from a former encampment.
