Site Description
Hewes Brook is a forested stream with steep banks, rocky sections, and small wetlands. The cleanup area is accessible on foot from nearby roads and trails, with much of the work taking place in and along the stream. Hewes Brook was once the site of Lyme’s town dump, and erosion continues to expose old bottles, glass, metal, and other debris that volunteers can help remove. The town's Conservation Commission has recognized the issue as being too large for large for a small number of volunteers to work on during the annual Green-Up Day.Trash Description
